This year, the math department will have a 3-day short Pi-Day celebration activities during lunch time on March 13-15, 2018 (Tuesday-Thursday).  There will be a concert during lunch time in the courtyard and contests in the cafeteria while students are eating their lunch.  These contests will not take more than 10 minutes but we can assure you that students will have fun.  Teachers and staff are also invited to join, just for fun.  Here are the activities:

  • Write Pi-ku Poems (March 13, Tuesday):  Students write their own pi-ku poems.  Inspired by haiku, these quick poems have a different number of syllables in each line (First line: 3 syllables; Second line: 1 syllable; Third line: 4 syllables).  EX:  March fourteenth; Brings; Springtime blossoms.
  • Create a Pi-line Skyline (March 14, Wednesday):  Students to graph the digits of pi using a bar graph format.  Once their Pi-line skyline is created, they will color in the sky and complete with Pi in the Sky constellations.
  • Pi Word Challenge (March 15, Thursday):  Instead of a pie-eating contest, we will have a pi-writing contest where students will write down as many words as they can that start with pi.

Prizes await the lucky participants!
