The fact that our students are recognizable with their NVMS uniforms, has provided another teachable opportunity.  This time it’s reminding your children about being respectful to others when boarding The Bus.  Just like an elevator where everyone needs to wait for passengers to exit the elevator before entering, we need to allow others to exit the bus before boarding.  Also, we need to allow room on the sidewalk for those who are exiting the bus.

Our school recently received a call from an elderly bus rider that said she almost got knocked down because Niu Valley students “rush” the bus when it makes the stop at Halemaumau.  Our students are bunched up on the sidewalk crowding the door, so others are forced to walk on the street.  This has happened more than a few times. The bus driver often has to yell at our students.  Please remind your bus riding children that we should be considerate to others while using public transportation.
