First Day of School – Requests and Traffic Tips

Traffic usually starts getting heavy about 7:30am. Arriving early will help you avoid the traffic congestion.
Dropping off in the parking area is NOT allowed unless you have an authorized school pass.
The official drop off area is on Kanau Street which usually has less traffic in the morning. Please note: For the afternoon pick-up, please avoid double parking on Kanau Street or blocking our neighbors driveways. Instead, arrive a few minutes after the 2:05pm dismissal bell (1:15pm on Wednesdays) to allow time for your child to walk to your car.
Use CROSSWALKS when crossing streets! Remind your child to be mindful of cars – DO NOT use cell phones when walking.
When dropping off on the school side of Halemaumau, be aware of oncoming traffic when re-entering the street after drop-off.
Keep backpack near your child for easy and quick drop off, and avoid opening your car trunk, unless absolutely necessary.
