Aloha Parents and Guardians,

We want to take this opportunity to first thank you all for your continued support and patience this school year.  We are proud of the fact that although we’ve had our fair share of individual positive cases, there has been no evidence of community spread within our physical campus.  I’d also like to share that finding substitutes when needed hasn’t been as much of an issue here at NVMS, as many substitute teachers have commented on how safe our campus feels and how respectful our students have been in regards to health and safety rules.  Many share that they look forward to taking jobs at our campus.  That is a reflection of the great family support we have in this community.

Please download the letter from Interim Superintendent Keith Hayashi.pdf that we sent out on 3/11/22 announcing some changes that have taken effect this quarter.  We’d like to reiterate that although Governor Ige recently announced changes to indoor masking requirements for the state including restaurants and shops, Hawaii DOE schools are continuing to require universal indoor masking beyond March 25, 2022.  Another thing we’d like to note is that there are no changes to our requirements for participation in extramural athletics:  Testing is still required for all non-vaccinated students in alignment with the Oahu Interscholastic Association guidelines.

Sincerely,

Laura Ahn, Principal
